The Antidote to Leadership Isolation with Debra Driscoll

Let us get straight to the truth that most executivestry to ignore. You’re highly successful on paper, but exhausted because you believe you have to carry the weight of your world entirely on your own.
In my conversation this week with Debra Driscoll, the founder of The BeHer Collective, we looked at the root cause of this exhaustion. It is not a lack of "soft skills" or time management. It’s the deeply ingrained belief that you must do life and leadership by yourself.
Your ‘Success Inner Critic’wants you to believe that success is a one person job.. This critical narrative tells you not to rely on anyone else, or ask for help or support, likely to protect you from being disappointed if other people can't show up for you. My guess is that there was a time when your heart needed to be protected from disappointment.
And the fuel that keeps this narrative going is that in isolation, this critictells you that you’re "always" failing or "never" doing enough. You’llbelieve it because there is no one there to reflect the truth back to you. (Remember: if a voice uses "always" or "never," it is lying.)
Healing the Wound of Isolation with Debra Driscoll
Deb creates intentional communities where the goal is not to "network", but to be seen, heard, and accounted for in the leadership of your life. This is about building Human Skills. You cannot lead others effectively if you are still operating from old wounds that keep you alone in your struggle.
I can’t tell you how many years it took me to undo my conditioning of rugged individualism. And I can’t tell you the amount of healing that I was able to experience by being in community, especially the ones hosted by Deb and her fellow facilitators.
What happens when you step into community with leaders like Deb:
You Stop the "Fixing" Cycle: In Deb's spaces, the agreement is that no one tries to fix or heal you. This allows you to stop performing and start being.
You Make the Unconscious Conscious: Seeing your own fears reflected in other successful leaders strips the inner critic of its power.
You Gain Radical Validation: You realize that your internal battle is a shared human experience, not a personal failure.
If you’re tired of pushing that boulder up the hill alone, this conversation with Deb is the key to a different way of leading. 🗝️
