Live Coaching: One Real Client Navigating a Layoff and a New Direction

For years I’ve wanted to give you an all access pass to bear witness to what it takes and what it looks like to experience a big breakthrough, and today you have it. I have wanted this for you because I know how hard it is to stay optimistic about your own possibility when you’re in the thick of when life is life-ing.

My client Kathleen (whose name was changed to protect privacy) agreed to be recorded for six full sessions. Thanks to her generosity, you get to go on a journey with someone who was laid off earlier this year and is in the midst of trying to figure out what path to take next

I'm releasing the first two sessions together to make it easier to understand the layers of what she’s experiencing. In the first session, Kathleen is what she calls ‘jumbled’ between applying to corporate jobs, building a business in an industry with mixed opinions, all while feeling like her whole life is in a holding pattern. In session two Kathleen realizes that her fear of disappointment is about something even deeper; the fear that she’s not worthy of all the things she desires.

Being an observer of this conversation has immense value even if your situation looks nothing like hers, because somewhere in these conversations you’re going to hear something that resonates in one way or another. Whether you feel less alone in your situation, gain exposure to a new question you can ask yourself, or feel more hopeful about the mountain in front of you (or others), I think you will be changed by this journey. While Kathleen said yes to this for her personal growth, she also said yes because she believed it would be helpful for you to be exposed to the process, and I couldn’t agree more.

In addition to all of this, I wanted to shine a light on what it can look like to have a coach in a world in which anyone can use that label. Sometimes it’s easier to know what you’re looking for when you have something you can react to. If all you’ve been exposed to is mentorship, friendship or a boss that supports you, I hope this exposes you to yet another pathway for support at some point in your life.

If you find this series helpful to you, my one request is that you like, rate, review, or subscribe wherever you listen.

Cheers to the climb,
