Old Faithful Was Underwhelming (The Real Magic Was Something Else)

This summer I visited Yellowstone, and of course had to hit up the classic geyser known as Old Faithful. 

Now, you have to plan a little bit to visit because it 'erupts' about every 90 minutes with +/- 12 minute accuracy. So of course we planned accordingly and caught the famous event. BUT that display to be honest, was a bit underwhelming. I mean you see the picture - it's cool and all, but...

But let me tell you what WAS incredible. The fact that this lava-heated water comes to the surface with such consistency is the true magic of this site. The fact that a natural phenomenon is so predicable is fascinating. You can't predict hardly any natural occurrence with 'such dead on balls' accuracy (note, quote from My Cousin Vinny). 🤪 

I can't help but see some introspective leadership questions here....

🦉  Have you built your personal brand / reputation on consistency? 

🦉  Do you honor the value of follow-through? Do you have this habit? 

🦉  Have you rewarded or acknowledged those on your team that you can rely upon? 

🦉  Do you give grace (ie. +/- 12 minutes) for those who have shown they can be relied upon, or do you grind them harder? 🤔 

Sure, we all want results NOW.

We want to see our effort bear fruit ASAP. It's some terrible, crazy a$$ conditioning that has accelerated in recent years.

But let's not forget that what will truly win the race is consistency, and reliability because these are the foundations of trust. And trust moves mountains.
