The Voice Experts: Why Your Words Land Differently Than Everyone Else's! The Truth About Executive Presence!

You already know that I’m here in support of you unearthing the patterns that are keeping you from being the best possible leader you can be. The intent is for you to truly know who you are so you can show up honoring this. How you show up can also be known as executive presence.

As a keynote speaker, I’ve had to learn what this means from a whole new angle, and Julie Fogh, co-founder of Vital Voice Training has been an important support for me in this work. I want to say this up front, because this week's conversation on The Unlock Lab podcast is not me interviewing two experts from a distance. It’s me sitting down with the people who have shaped how I show up on a stage.

Julie and Casey Erin Clark co-founded Vital Voice Training in 2014 and have been changing the game of what it means to show up authentically since then. They are professionally trained actors, co-authors of The Authenticity Code, and incredible thought leaders.

One of the many truth bombs that are sticking with me is when Julie talked about how in the pursuit of polish, we polish our humanity right off of us. We then talked about how this process starts when we use AI to do our thinking.

A lot of people believe the hard part of presence is finding the right words. But the real challenge is knowing which parts of yourself to dial up, and which ones to dial down on purpose. Commanding presence is about holding your own power without needing anyone across the table to feel smaller. This means that you have to keep the edges that made you worth listening to in the first place at a moment when polish has never been cheaper to buy.

This just scratches the surface of what we get into on the latest episode of The Unlock Lab.
